There is a person at my work that seems to be kind and "nice", but he keeps saying things that somewhat hurt me. The things he says aren't that clear cut and I am confused on whether he does it unintentionally or he really is trying to attack me in some way. I would like to know if this person has some bad intentions or not?
From what I am seeing he is a good person, well intentioned and unaware of the effect his words have on you. I don't sense he is trying to hurt or attack you at all, but rather that your two personalities with different ideas of what is appropriate, clear or offensive, and communications do not flow very well between the two of you. This feels like miscommunication between two people, fed by misunderstanding and differences in personality.
In situations like these, keeping quiet is the worst thing you can do, because it leaves all this negativity stewing around inside your thoughts, giving you images and scenarios of what he may have been trying to imply or say. If you keep quiet there will be no resolution. Rather than wonder, why not ask? From what I am picking up he is an open person, and would respond well to open ended questions like "What do you mean by that?".
It's not necessary to confront him, but what is necessary, is that you have a clearer picture of what he means. If you just ask him, question his comments that offend or insult you, in as calm a way as possible, it should give him the opportunity to clarify and show you that he meant no harm. If once clarified his comments are still insulting and unappreciated, then discussion of what you do and don't appreciate can clear this up.
Just remember that communication is a two way street, word said and meaning intended, followed by words heard and meanings perceived. There is a lot of room for things to go haywire in between!
