My brother is signing up to this business opportunity. He has to invest a good chunk of money and it seems really fishy to me. Is it legit? What can I do?
I don't get a strong sense that this business is a positive or legitimate opportunity. I sense it is focused on bringing in large amounts of money for few, with promises for the same sort of success, but it is limited, not quite a pyramid scheme, but I feel the draw is not something stable. His investment is money that he could really put to use somewhere else, as I see his finances are in various states of strain lately, but he is very focused on finding his golden opportunity, his saving grace, and I sense an overwhelming amount of faith and hope in this scheme.
I do see he is being mislead with inflated promises and false hopes, and that to reach him and convince him to reconsider, you would need some sort of proof or supporting evidence of the company's shady dealings. I urge you to contact the Better Business Bureau and research the company online, you will find reports of dissatisfaction which should help you make your point. He is intelligent but very starry eyed right now, so he needs more than just your instincts about the company. If you approach him with concern and backing proof, he will respond and be grateful to you for helping. Good luck to you!

My boyfriend of 12 years has been a Jeckyl and Hyde for the past year and a half. we are both in our 40's, and I am starting to doubt whether he really loves and cares for me and my kids, like he used to. He never communicates with me anymore and when I try he will start a fight with me just to make sure he doesn't have to talk to me, he does that too also to get out of going anywhere with me. Is it going to get better?
Your boyfriend has a serious lack of appreciation for you and your children right now. Honestly hun, I really feel strongly that he has been mostly negative or distant, never really expressing or going back to those happy loving moments.
I feel he is deeply frustrated with his life and where he feels he has ended up, and this general unhappiness in his life is being put on you to bear. It's not that he doesn't care for you and youre kids, but he doesn't treasure you, he doesn't respect you and value you in his life, and therefore any warm and loving feelings he has for you are unseen and hidden, overshadowed by his dramatic and negative actions.
In order for your relationship to get better, he needs to change his attitude, he needs to not just love you, but ACT like he loves you, and this will not happen passively. He is so self absorbed right now, so blind to what is really going on, that he does not see or care about the impact of his actions right now. In order for him to see how he has hurt you, to understand what has truly been happening, he needs to get back to reality. I know you have tried, and you can't reach him, he isn't listening, he has a wall around himself... but he has to understand, or this behavior will continue and intensify until it takes an even bigger impact on you emotionally and physically, and that is unacceptable.
I feel strongly that you need to leave him, for your relationship to have any chance at surviving, being revived or healed. He needs to wake up, and I honestly feel that as painful as it would be, the best way to protect yourself, and give him a hard dose of reality, to wake him up and get him to see his actions for what they have been, is to begin making plans to leave, and really working on that, so he can see that his behavior will not pass, and that if he continues, he will lose you. Only then is there a chance that he will initiate some changes and begin treating you more respectfully and lovingly, as you truly deserve. Best wishes to you!
