Psychic Ethics and Psychic Scams
Ethics and morality are integral parts of my daily life as well as the way I function as a professional Psychic reader. I believe very strongly in Karmic connections and the cyclical nature of life. For these reasons and many others, I work very hard to ensure I represent myself and what I do in a truthful, ethical way, and always follow my instincts in doing what is right. Unfortunately not every psychic reader upholds the same views of what is right and wrong, and too often people are preyed upon by greedy, self centered frauds. This article is intended to help arm you with knowledge of warning signs for unethical psychics, so that you can protect yourself, and not become a victim.
The relationship between a psychic reader and client is a very special, intense bond of trust, empathy, compassion and respect. Each part has it's own responsibilities and rights and must fulfill them in order for the relationship to be positive and functional.
The Psychic It is important that the reader be a trustworthy individual who understands the significance of their role in their client's life. An ethical Psychic is always focused on the best interests of the client and works to achieve strength, wisdom and emotional wellness in their client. The ethical Psychic represents skills and abilities in an honest and truthful way, never misleading the client or promising things that cannot be delivered. Ethical Psychics are always honest and clear with their advice, providing the tools and understanding to correct problems and promote growth and improvement in the client's life. An ethical Psychic reader gives clear and direct knowledge of fees or obligations incurred by the client in the consultation and always uses honest billing techniques. The ethical Psychic cannot lie to or mislead the client into purchasing questionable services (curse lifting, blessing etc.) at fees other than the normal rate charged for readings.
The Client It is imperative that the client be open minded and able to work with the Psychic to help themselves. Clients should be as truthful as possible with Psychics and focus on the big picture of achieving happiness. Clients have an obligation to be educated and aware of their role and to actively protect themselves from unethical Psychics by avoiding those who have the warning signs, and recommending those who are ethical to others. Clients must not mislead or take advantage of Psychic readers and their gifts by engaging in fraud or deception regarding the billing and cost of readings. Clients should never attempt to manipulate or cajole Psychic readers into giving free readings. Free readings are only an entitlement if offered, unsolicited by the reader.
Watch out for these warning signs
The following are some scams and deception practices common in the Psychic Industry that you may not know about. Protect yourself from the negativity by learning what to watch out for!
Protecting yourself from unethical Psychics is as easy as knowing the warning signs, and being aware of the common "scams". If you come across any of the following, beware. Unethical Psychics can cause anguish, self doubt, pain, depression, financial instability and dependence in their client's lives. Trust your instincts, protect yourself, avoid and/or report these individuals!
Wild claims Tarot readings that can make people fall in love with you, Psychic readings that can make you win the lottery, 99.98% accuracy and similar dubious claims are a clear indication of a person who has no problems misleading and lying to earn money. Remember the only person with the ability to affect change in your life is you! No simple reading can do that... so beware those who claim otherwise. As in any form of sales, an unscrupulous individual will say anything to get your money, and leave you hanging out to dry when they fail to deliver what was promised. Just apply logic to the claim and see if it holds true, for example, "99.98% accurate!" How could a reader make this statement truthfully? Do they maintain a series of charts and graphs and follow up with each client after their readings to decipher how many of their readings came true, and then figure the mathematical equation? It seems far more likely they just use an unfounded sales gimmick to make themselves look good.
Unclear or fraudulent billing Mysterious charges showing up after a "FREE" reading, confusing charges and ongoing billing discrepancies as well as unclear fees usually indicate fraud or at least an extremely disorganized individual and should be avoided or reported to the Better Business bureau if fraud is involved. Never be afraid to ask for clarification on prices, and remember that any service or membership that is free, would not require your credit card information if it truly were free! Do not give out your financial information to anyone unless you trust that they are legitimate and honest.
Forming dependence Psychics that dwell on negative events that lie ahead, curses, hexes or doomed patterns that will lead to destructive occurrences in the client's life, without providing any option or actions the client can take to make a positive change and head in another direction, are trying to create a dependant client whose self esteem and confidence is reduced and in need of constant advice and reassurance from the Psychic in order to function. This creates an unhealthy relationship that can leave the client emotionally damaged and financially troubled. Remember that the purpose of a Psychic reading is to give you insight on how to set your life on the right path and make the right choices. After a good Psychic reading you should feel purposeful, determined and good about the choices you are now making in your life. If a reading leaves you feeling helpless, confused and afraid, you should start questioning why, the answer will be clear (the Psychic wants you to need more readings!).
Manipulation Psychics that claim to see hexes, curses and other specific negative influences on a person's life and claim that they will be able to eradicate or correct these if paid a specific sum of money (this includes cleansing cursed money, cleansing auras, casting or destroying spells), are manipulating the vulnerable client for their own financial gain. In an instance such as this there is no genuine attempt to help the client empower themselves or find the source of their unhappiness or problems through motivating change and positive growth in their life. If a Psychic claims something along these lines and requests that you send money or items to be cleansed, blessed or requests more money for special or blessed candles or spell supplies to use for you... beware! (If a Psychic claims to be lighting a candle or casting a spell for you without requesting additional funds this does not indicate fraud... it is not the act itself but the demands and requests for money that are suspect!)
Misrepresentation Some organizations employ individuals that are unskilled and have little to no desire to function as a spiritual advisor. These situations are often motivated by financial gain and can lead a client astray with incorrect or deceiving advice. Psychics who are genuinely skilled in one area may also claim to be proficient in methods of divination or other areas in which they have no experience. Do not be afraid to ask questions about experience, skills and training or research the individual or company before choosing to get a reading with them. Most disciplines require years of study and use to become comfortable, remember that when confronted with jack of all trades Psychics. Beware of claims of certification and diplomas, do not be afraid to request the name of the issuing organization of the certificate or diploma and research their credentials. If a Psychic mentions a certification or affiliation, there should be no attempt to prevent someone from verifying that affiliation. Do not be dazzled by terms such as ordained minister or other titles, some churches offer an online form that can be filled out and in one second a person can be officially ordained as a minister.
Remember that as in any field where you seek advice or guidance from individuals, some are ethical and some are not, but with some awareness and careful consideration, you can avoid the dangers of unethical Psychics, and find the honest, compassionate guidance you seek.
